We’re now looking to recruit two Accounts Apprentices - motivated, organised individuals who are keen to develop as accountants.

The Role

This is a structured apprenticeship role combining practical work experience with formal AAT study.

You’ll be supported every step of the way – by peers, dedicated mentors, and even our directors. We’ll give you structure, but also the freedom to grow at your own pace.

You’ll gain hands-on experience across bookkeeping, VAT, and client work, while also learning how modern accounting firms use technology and AI to work smarter.

There’s a clear progression path towards becoming a Junior Accountant and beyond.

What You’ll Be Doing

First 3–6 months:

  • Processing purchase invoices and receipts

  • Assisting with bookkeeping using cloud software (e.g. Xero)

  • Supporting bank reconciliations

  • General admin and client record organisation

6–12 months:

  • Completing bank reconciliations independently

  • Assisting with VAT return preparation

  • Managing bookkeeping for smaller clients

  • Communicating with clients to request records

12+ months:

  • Working towards handling smaller clients end-to-end

  • Supporting year-end accounts preparation

  • Developing towards a Junior Accountant role

Training & Development

  • Fully supported AAT qualification (via approved training provider)

  • 1 day per week dedicated to study

  • Ongoing mentoring and structured development

  • Exposure to modern accounting systems, automation, and AI tools

  • Clear progression pathway within the firm

Working Pattern

  • 3 days in office (Grangemouth)

  • 1 day working from home*

  • 1 day study (college or remote learning)

*Working from home and flexibility are subject to satisfactory progression and performance.

Salary Progression

  • ÂŁ16,000 starting salary

  • ÂŁ18,000 after successful 6-month review

  • ÂŁ20,000 after 12 months (subject to performance)

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Higher grades in English and Maths or Applications of Maths

  • Interest in accountancy or finance as a career

  • Good attention to detail and organisation skills

  • Comfort working with numbers

  • Willingness to learn and take feedback

  • Reliable and professional attitude

Desirable:

  • Higher in accounting or business related subjects

  • Any previous work experience (part-time or otherwise)

  • Interest in technology, systems, or how businesses operate

Personal Qualities

  • Proactive and willing to ask questions

  • Takes pride in accuracy and quality of work

  • Good communication skills

  • Positive attitude and team mindset
